The bus fare in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area increased by nearly 10%, with the minimum fare reaching 495 pesos. The decision was made by the Economy Minister to reduce public spending.


Buenos Aires Bus Fare Increases by Nearly 10%

Buenos Aires, November 17 (NA) — The bus fare in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), specifically for routes crossing General Paz Avenue or the Riachuelo River, increased by nearly 10% this Monday, bringing the fare close to 500 pesos.

According to official sources cited by the Noticias Argentencia agency, the decision was published today in the Official Gazette and implemented this Monday. With this increase, the minimum fare for buses entering and leaving the City of Buenos Aires rose to 495 pesos (+9.7%).

The resolution was made by Economy Minister Luis Caputo, as part of the need to 'reduce subsidies for public motor transport and continue cutting public spending.'

The regulation sets the following new bus fare rates for the AMBA:

  • The 0-3 km segment (first section) increased from 451.01 pesos to 495.75 pesos with a registered SUBE card.
  • The 3-6 km segment (second section) increased from 502.43 pesos to 551.16 pesos.
  • The 6-12 km segment (third section) increased from 541.13 pesos to 593.61 pesos.
  • The 12-27 km segment (fourth section) increased from 579.87 pesos to 636.11 pesos.
